Distinguished Lecturer Series, September 2007
Cartoonist Bob Englehart

Editorial cartoonist Bob Englehart gave an interesting and humorous talk about cartooning, politics, and current events. Mr. Englehart’s cartoons have appeared in The Hartford Courant since 1980. His cartoons also have also appeared in USA Today, Time, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, the New York Times, the London Times, Playboy and Hustler. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, Mr. Englehart has appeared in a political comedy review on Broadway, had cartoon shows on ESPN and Connecticut Public Television, illustrated a children’s book, and drew a daily and Sunday comic strip.

He was accompanied at Georgina's Restaurant by his wife, Pat McGrath. Seated at their table were two Bolton High School students who were chosen to attend based on their interest in the cartooning process. The Foundation extends sincere thanks to Georgina’s for serving as a sponsor for this event.

Here are photos from the event:

A buffet dinner was served prior to the talk in Georgina's beautiful banquet hall.

Attendees were seated at round tables with friends to enjoy conversation and socializing prior to the talk.

Mr. Englehart answered many questions from audience members.

He received many laughs for the sketches he drew as he talked, which were projected onto a screen behind him.
